Skiing for beginners
Our instructor David Slattery explains about what you can expect as a beginner skier...
"We start beginners off on gentle terrain, where we explain how to put on the ski, how to move around, and how to stop! Then we start skiing, on a slope with just enough incline to give you a slight sensation of speed. We soon move onto the main nursery slopes where there are plenty of lift options to choose from (and coffee break options!!!). We consolidate and develop on the nursery slopes, initially using the famous 'snow-plough' turn, then as you improve, the 'plough-parallel' turn."
"Like so many activities, it's best to start young, but we have successfully taught beginners in their 60s!
The great thing about skiing, as enthusiasts will always say, is that it's an activity for all the family."
"Your experienced instructor will know when you are ready to move away from the nursery slopes and spread your wings, whether you are still nervous, or super-confident."
"You'll be surprised by your progress, and are in safe hands with all our staff. The beginner slopes in Baqueira are wide, well maintained and offer excellent progresssion, offering challenges but building confidence for all ages. Learning to ski is an exciting week!"
